I started this thread 3+ years ago. I waited, And waited, for a response. Nothing. Then I gave up. haven't checked the site since, thinking i'd have to explore korea, and maintain my bike on my own....

V-strom gas odor from tank

'07 vstrom 650.
I've replaced the throttle fuel line and clamps. (That lil' PITA of a fuel line between the injectors). AND still have a strong fuel smell at stop lights and right after...

Does fuel octane really matter?

If suzuki says my wee will run on minimum 87 octane then does that imply that 89 or 91...or even 93 is better?

Has anybody got any proof that higher octane increases power or fuel milage?

Like everyone said so far, prep and cleaning is key. no matter what kind of coating you use it won't stick to grease and gunk.....that includes fingerprints
on bare metal!

Does SUPERBRACE really make a difference?

I've read here and there the v-strom will benefit from a fork brace. At $165 i wonder just how much one benefits from a superbrace. I would assume all dualsports are engineered to be a little beefier...

+1 on the v-strom 650 or 1000. great all around bike. And if you're tall your feet will touch the ground! (unlike me).

I've used the ORTLIEB SADDLE BAGS on my vstrom and love em'.
Simple, strong, waterproof. What more could you ask for?
They have internal stiffeners, easy set-up, and NO zippers to fail.
