No worries

A few cattle guards along the way, a few corners with sand but the scenery is not to be missed. I favor south to north for scenic enjoyment. Get a burger in Mad River. As indicated, paved all the way...

Thanks for the suggestions

Looking these up on the map tonight! The idea of stress free back roads makes me think I'll not fulfill my dream of being stressed and covering all these miles, and the more I think about it with...

Good ideas

No real time frame to get to Toronto other than I think there are more new things to see beyond Michigan than before it. The thinking right now is to go for two 1K days just to get past the plains...

For what it's worth

Hwy 3 (Yreka to 36) can be exhilarating. There are so many great options in the area. Taking 89 out of Mt. Shasta and heading to 299, then cutting off to 36 and enjoying the full ride from Red Bluff...

What route through CA?

Are you planning 505? Suggest you go all the way to Sac and take I-80 west to add the miles vs. heading for 101. 101 can be a curse, especially in the dark (you do not want to do 199 in the dark or...

141 south of Grand Junction to 145 to Telluride and away you go on down to Cortez and Durango. When the sun is setting (or rising) the color along 141 is rather spectacular. One more thing to...

No bad routes in the bunch.....

97 south of Bend is boring as watching paint dry, hence your desire to turn off in La Pine and head toward Lakeview. A great ride with little traffic and you get a lot of quiet time. However, 395 is...

What about Washington?

Head over to WA and head north to WA 20 (may be the best road in the state if you don't get carried away (heavily policed in summer)). Extend the trip, see Tonasket, Mazama, and head back to US 2,...
