I've found (with the Pirelli M/T 90's, at least), they like to be at recommended pressures ( ~36 - 40 ) to feel good on the road; lower pressures feel like it wants to 'stand-up' a little in fast...

I did 15k km's on the Std model - very nice bike, and the lower seat is Very Much missed...but....

The R model is the one; I'm up to 25k km's on it.

1. Up to a total of 40k km's on 1190's now - no breakdowns, no unscheduled trips the workshop. :1drink

2. Unifilter in at new - no dust in airbox at all. Might try the K+N filter.

I did 15k kms on the STD model, and it was lovely, but the big wheels on the R model eat up all the crappy roads so much better than what a 17" rear wheel...
