Weird...an ultrasonic clean could well do the trick. Maybe check the diaphrames in the accelerator pump bit first .....and you have got the carbs balanced properly?

As far as I can make out the valve angle bit is all about improving the gas flow so in theory it would be a good idea.practically though I doubt if it would be noticable in terms of performance...

At 80 thou the "new" bloc isn't likely to be without faults or last much longer unless it was recently rebuilt.
The bike is a keeper....so the best course is to rebuild with new or v'good...
