Another vote for a KTM 4 Stroke. The 4 strokes are more forgiving than the 2 strokes for a casual rider. A KTM or Husky 250/350 is worlds apart from a DRZ for trail riding.

Maybe in theory but not on the R. I can't believe how well this bike handles with a 21 on the tar. It really shines in the dirt though compared to a 19 up front.
