You still get that quick deceleration though. I find it's smoothest to match the throttle with the rpm and give the front brake lever a very light tap. The cruise disengages seamlessly.

I learned the same thing with the LEDs. My dealer has sent a service message into BMW for updated software. Did yours? I'd assume the more calls they get for this the quicker they will allow it.

It was the chutch inside the starter gear inside the motor. BMW replaced the entire motor so they could tear it apart themselves to try to sort it out. The dealer did mention the rep said it happened...
