Not to hijack your thread, but the biggest issue that I have with my set-up is controlling the traction in washboard conditions. I installed new springs front and back and rebuilt the shock with...

you must be important

Each and every day I sit at my desk pretending to work and check my favorite threads on ADV. I always save my favorite threads for last. It's my little "me" time prolongation technique. (So I don't...

GPS coordinates

Given the generous proportions involved and the fact that the picture was released 28 years ago, there may be significant coordinate slippage involved. A "continental drift", so to speak.:rofl

The shot of you getting patted down in your official fan gear really needs to be submitted for the "Where in the World" contest back home. :rofl

Take heart traveler

Hit the same April rains when I was in the mountains of Peru. Thought I would triumphantly descend into the Amazon basin on the far side. But there was just a lot of washed out roads and swollen...

Made the run from Nazca to Abancay in one day during early April sleet once. Entered Abancay in the descending darkness on election day. That was far too much and still several hours shorter than...

sphetzer valve

You could limit the noise for easier snipe pursuit with proper application of some SAE sphetzer valves and silicone blinker fluid.:deal

It's not even a valid question.

If you are really going off-road, you would never take a bike the size of the KTM. If you are talking soft-core ADV riding (like the TAT), the KTM is a great bike...

The XT abides.

I road-raced SRs and off-road used TTs and XTs for many years and still have a few in the fleet. All of the hints above can be valid but the main reason you are struggling is the points. Every bike...

I agree, but less than adequate pressure will not stop the bike from running. It will just make it run badly (and potentially destroy the motor in the long run).

It seems that Rod's pump was...

But why??????

Is there anyone that knows the actual reason for the random shutdown of the bike. Is there an overload breaker that opens when the pump draws too hard? Is there a safety built into the mapping that...

I must agree

I tune performance auto engines for a living. While I would agree that the pictures illustrate a "less than ideal" combustion process, I do not see anything that I view as "damage". The rings look...

Long time lurker

Have watched for many years but I guess it's time to chime in. She doesn't ride (and you would be glad if you'd seen her drive) but she's done a few miles on back in the last thirty years.
