I think the top loaders need to be mounted higher because they are taller cases, but we haven't mounted the side loading cases any higher than normal on this bike and have sold several without issue....

We never made a mount kit for the racks you mention (BRM originally). Most of the BRM racks had no rear cross bar, so they were intended for soft saddle bags not really good for hard cases.
