With a Nighthawk that is well maintained, there isn't a whole lot to go wrong. Oil/filter change, tires, chain, spark plugs, and air filter are about it. They are very reliable machines.

I believe they are 1" dia. I bought a cheap set of Bikemaster pegs that had an insert on the brackets for use on two sizes of bars. I didn't need to use the insert when I mounted them.
