That's what I'm thinking-you have a 441-my 250 triumph did not have a comp release,either. It could have used one,too-high compression, and a fierce kickback if the starting drill wasn't done just so.

Why not switch to the original Pekar K68 carbs? A russian vendor on ebay (mastersss) sells a set of carbs cheap, and he also sells the cables (which you will need,as the mikuni ones will not work...
