One big advantage is that the display is not only bigger, but it is brighter. I can see it in almost all lighting conditions....

I switch back and forth between BaseCamp and Mapsource. I am just more comfortable with Mapsource, but Basecamp has a few features that Mapsource doesn't. Thus my answer is switch if it makes sense....
