A 4 cyl has 2 pistons going up and 2 coming down so minimal pulsation in the crankcase.
The opposed twin has 2 pistons coming...

Leaks from either seal will end up on the ground via the hole in the bottom of the pump housing. I doubt it's a seal problem.
