Sorry for my slackness and not updating. Had the impossible shoulder reconstruction done at St Andrews, genius surgeon Dr Stephen Yang managed after 5 hours to get the ball back together...

It looks like the rear is only a bit shorter than that, not near a ruler so using something as a guide. Could be around 360mm. If that is the case I don't mind it being a touch lower, I am only 5'8"...

The clicking is not coming from the solenoid, just the relay in the fuse box.

So I would say that nothing is happening at the solenoid part of the start process.

Did what you suggested and am getting 12.6v to the connections at the starter motor. When the button is pressed there is a click sound, so looks like it might be the starter as you suggest....

I just put the old battery back in and it is doing the exact same...

Looking for some wisdom here, I have only had the GS for a few months. Went away on a 4WD trip for few weeks and the battery was dead when I got back. Battery was 5 years old so installed a new one....
