Cleaning filters

Only every use dish washing liquid in a bucket of warm water , then filter oil.

I think the filter manufacturers advise not to use solvents ( kero, upl )

Correct me if I am wrong but the middle number is actually the side wall height represented as a % of the width

Ie 140 x 80 x 18 means

140mm wide , (140x80%)=112mm side wall , 18 inches rim...

the front fork rebound adjuster screw (brass screw in the middle of the fork cap is seized.

Fuel consumption

That 625 of yours is great on fuel or mine is particularly bad.
I did that stretch from Wiluna to Cotton Creek in 2013 and made it into Cotton Creek on fumes after 48L

625/640 Starter Motor

Not happy with my starter motor and it's difficulty in turning over my engine from a cold start. On most occasions I need to depress the decompression lever to get it cranking.

But waalx is right, the trick is to get going by sunrise then camp up 12 - 3pm then push on until sunset. Sand is a lot more manageable when it's cool and firm and you attack it...
