I'm 6'5'' and have a similar setup along with Pastrana FMX bend ProTaper bars and Pivot Pegs. As long as you're not feeling too much flex in that set up I say go for it.

I've owned and ridden both off-road and wouldn't consider either as a serious off-road weapon. Dual sport bikes by definition are a compromise in every scenario as compared to purpose built machines....

+1 on the HWDB guards. Top clamps have provisions for switches, LEDs and power outlets. I put the switch for my heated grips there.
