I had a guy from Oregon headed here last year on a Uly and made it as far as New Brunswick. Wheel bearings crapped out so that would be my first suggestion. Replace them and carry a spare set.

Riding a servo assist abs equipped GS is possible but to my knowledge it is not practical. Very difficult to pressurize the calipers. And fixing them is not cheap. Some people remove them...

I could see doing it to put the flat one piece adventure seat on as sliding back for dirty riding is easier.
