Aww I read back a few pages and it's the cases causing the issue. I never bothered with a case. If it rains I Just put it in a zip lock bag :)

damn... looks like I may have to go with a v-strom then. I'm 280 alone and I'd like to be able to take the wife (150). The V-strom is right around 500lbs I believe.

I don't mind the side bags at all, I just bought a couple small duffle bags that I fill up and jam them in. works perfect! I also find my 35liter side bag is just big enough to hold my sleeping bag...
