Installed a Datel voltmeter...

Installed a Datel voltmeter (http://www.datelmeters.com/cgi-bin/webshop.cgi?config=ent-dcvoltmeters#2-wire-round) and relocated the power outlet. Had to trim pieces here and there, but not too bad.

I think they all do that, at least mine '11 did from new. It didn't bother me and stopped after a while, didn't have to add coolant.

More oil you have in the clutch, more difficult it gets to shift. So a plugged oil jet should mean easier shifting.

My bike has the same noise when the clutch lever is half way. Maybe the sound isn't quite as clear as yours, but it's there. I don't worry about mine.

Open intake makes different noises. Smell is probably just storage grease burning on the surfaces. 990 runs hot by default. Exhaust color looks normal to me, for a new bike.

I wouldn't recommend the BMC either. Poor sealing around the edges and stupid sealing rings around throttle openings. Dunno if DNA or K&N are any better.

The cable closer to rider on top of the bars is the pull cable, put it in the round hole on throttle cam and return cable in the oval shaped. Don't know how to explain it really.. Just stare at it...

I don't think it's a big deal, but I do run motor with the starter for a while after oil change. With the 990 you can do this by opening the throttle so the ECU won't inject any fuel during the start...

I'm not a grand wizard on these matters.. But I'd leave the SAS on until you get aftermarket cans. Sure you can turn it off if you like, but it's only on during the warm up period to get them cats up...
