If it were me, I'd look around for an XT 225 or 250 (225 is preferable as mentioned earlier for the 6th gear). Those are very easy to ride, and will handle some 60 mph stints on the open road...

The big IT's were known to be hard to start. Lots of compression, and a big old piston. Kick it like a big-bore 4T; hard from TDC all the way through. No little dabs at the lever.
