WD-40, no mar goop, soapy water... all of them work good enough and will make it easier. I also keep talc for getting the tube in and reducing a pinch.... that's the hardest thing in my opinion.

OEM pads can squeak, spread the pads and rough them up with some 180 grit. My stock ones made some noise and I did this and they didn't anymore.
