I would suggest removing the cheek pads entirely...

I would suggest removing the cheek pads entirely and then trying each helmet. This will allow you to actually concentrate on how the crown of each helmet fits on your head. Cheek pads are available...

I believe the cutoff date listed in the bulletin is for bikes that are out of the standard warranty time frame, such as a 2010 model would be, yet still fell victim to an admitted parts-spec problem....
