I was running around 14 maybe a bit less on Mt21s with 1 rim lock each wheel when I dinged both rims on the same ride. There was one fast rocky section on that ride... I admit to hammering it through...

There's a few aussie gents who've done solo WRR crossings. Stormsearcher from Perth I think. Good economy from the WRR ... although high revs in deep sand mean some of the advantage is lost...

If you buy a lockable vented cap (Acerbis one fits the Safari tank) then you don't have the tube to worry about. And you're less likely to get fuel swiped.
