I'd be interested to hear how it works out for you if you go to HID. I have an R1150RT the I love the HID headlight on. Did the same thing with my R1150 GSA low beam. Was very happy with that one...

not sure if your bike has it
but on mine, there is a small blue (connector) with 5 pins under the tank. I believe that it is for the optional alarm system. The pin second from the right is switched power... (if my memory...

thanks to Jim at EB. I ordered a bunch of them, including the in-line fuse holder. I think that i use the 18-20GA for my wiring. easy to use, and no issues so far. :clap

the bike does look to be in pretty nice shape. But as other's have said, the lack of verifiable maintenance, would be a real issue for me.
IMHO it's probably worth $3500, but i would make a $3000...
