What do you mean by "killing the starter"? Slow turning over (which is solved by more battery) or mechanical issues with the starter?

Only one or two years came with 41mm carbs... right before they went to fuel injection. Earlier ones had smaller carbs, but they work just as well. CRF250 carbs work too.

The paint was actually still in pretty good shape. Just needed some spot sanding and touch-up. Scrubbing the greasy grime off the head and cylinder is what took the most work. :huh

I have an FCR MX on my XRL and it works great. Gets about 50 mpg and meters perfectly from idle to WOT. Sudco... what a bunch of tools.

Valve cover is necessary only if you want to have a manual compression release. If you keep your stock cam, you have an auto decomp on the cam, but I like having a manual decomp.
