1997 R850R, Congratulations!

Congratulations on your purchase!
I have owned a 97 R850R for about 16 years now. I have about 43k miles on it. It is one of 4 bikes I own, so it does not get ridden a lot. Maybe a 3k miles a year...

I have a 1997 R850R, and I get a very consistent 43 MPG on the highway doing 65 MPH.
It is odd to me that your R1150R is getting 30 MPG. That seems poor for a boxer motor.

So go buy a Wunderlich Trophy fairing and handguards. That would be a LOT cheaper than buying a new R1200RS. The amount of fairing protection is about equal.

Don't worry, buy it!

If it has been maintained well and is in good condition, do not worry about the 50k miles or age.
I have a 17 year old R850R that with 45k on it that will probably go 100k+ miles if I keep that long...

how about a rear fender?

I like the design, but one practical concern I have is the missing rear fender on 3 out of 4 of the Scramblers.
