+1 on the leatherlyke bags. I had a bad put down on my Magna in '08. Shattered collar bone, two surgeries & 5 months of recovery for me, but the Leatherlyke bags & my crashbar kept the bike damage...

I found the V-strom & KLR to be friendly, versatile & easy to ride. Both are pretty roomy which will be important with your inseam length.

The womens models have the zipper on the opposite side so that you can zip the bags together.
