Report from Thailand!

I wanted to pop in a couple years after my purchase and say how fantastic Alaska Leather's seat cover has been for me. I purchased a full dual sport cover originally for my Honda NX250 in the US....

NX250 Manual

One of the two NX250 manual links on the start of this thread seems broken now, and the files they have are a mishmash zip of PDFs and JPGs. So I went ahead and put all of the PDFs and JPGs together...

Personally, I'd go for any of the little dual sports, 200-250cc. Buy it cheap, learn on a bike that's easy to control, and sell it and move up. Guys who ride bigger bikes get over-enthused and think...

Hopefully you've managed to catch the Top Gear Vietnam special. That's what encouraged a friend and I to do a tour there. "If that idiot Jeremy Clarkson can ride there, so can I!"

As for a...

True enough on the car front. A friend of mine was hit by a car while out walking (!) and then, two years later, hit head on by a car coming into her lane when she was driving her car (!!). Nothing's...

Laugh Bore 'em, that'll teach 'em.

I'm a woman, and my mom hated that I started motorcycling. My tactic has to been to bore the crap out of her when she worries. Tell me about a motorcycle accident you just saw on the news? I'll tell...

I've been thinking about much the same thing. I read the crash reports and they're really helpful -- in fact, reading them saved me from being squished before. I came off once myself at a decent...

Lots of good advice on this thread.

I'm still a newbie, and the only times I've hit the highway have been with a (much, much) more experienced rider taking the lead -- doing a few miles, exiting,...

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about the MPG either. Seemed a little high.

Thanks for the info guys! From my poking around, and your info, this doesn't seem like it's a bad price. I'm going for a test...

Question 2000 BMW F650 Price Check

I used the search and came up with some more information from other people's threads, but I'd still love it if I could get a couple of opinions from folks here. Hopefully this is in the right place!...

I've forgotten multiple times to disconnect the tether. Never set it off, never tipped the bike. A tug at your chest lets you know you've spaced. Now it's second nature!

One thing that guys do sometimes is get worried about solving someone's problems, rather than just giving them space to express whatever they're thinking so they can just solve their own problems. (I...

I was probably the worst student in my MSF class the first day -- no drops, nothing scary or dangerous, just clutch control problems, stalling out, etc. I was getting "the look" from the instructors....

I'll put up some pics soon, hopefully! I may write a little ride report, even though it kind of seems like "cheating" since I hired a guide. It was crazy and fun, though -- we had a guide I knew in...

Yeah, let me tell you, I caught a lot of flack from the guys I know for buying such a cheap/light/old bike. But screw them, they're not the ones learning! (I don't know if the XT225 I was originally...

Laugh Hi all!

Found this thread and had to say hi. I'm a woman, and a rider -- I have an '88 Honda NX250, held together by electrical tape and happy thoughts. (Since I'm relatively new, I figure having an old bike...

Thanks for the welcome! I'll be hitting dirt soon as I can, I had a taste of it in Vietnam and loved it -- it's when the joy of motorcycling actually kicked in for me.

Hi all. I'm a newbie to biking in the US, after falling in love with it riding in Vietnam. (I'd taken the MSF class before, but while it taught me a lot of safety techniques, it didn't quite show me...
