Isn't the dry weight difference ~30 lbs between the S and E?. The problem is the DRZ is top heavy... so it feels heavier than it is. Also it doesn't help if your shorter and you can only flat-foot...

Sounds like you had a good day, ended up riding with a couple of guys off the TT forum. One guy has been riding there for 30 yrs, knew his way around and really rode at a pace that had me working it.
