Worth a try. Moving the levers in (inboard of mirrors, switches, etc) when possible can make a huge difference but sometimes people are afraid to try it as it's different from the factory/common set...

Mine were bargain ebay Cree LED's and they were awesome. Aluminum housings and came with mounts that fit on the bars perfectly. I bought a generic handlebar switch and they worked great.

Pro Taper's ATV high bend bar will do the trick but you may not like the bend (had them on my KLR). I think you'd be better off with a moto bar and risers.

On my '86 (see post #2146) I run a 130/90-17 Kenda Trakmaster II. It fits without issue but I did have to remove the chain guard and fold over the chain guard mount (no loss to me).
