I had the same issue on my SE recently on a trip. (Scotts filter) I made a risk diagnosis like you did.

I think if I was at home like you are, I would have gone into every detail to track it down...

Nice repair job on your rad. I run a Lakemonster guard on my SE and elected to not fit the forward bolts to the oil tank. Makes a hell of a ringing noise which I don't like though.

That's amazing mileage. You must be one of the leading 990 users currently. The rear disk I'm thinking of is from the 950. It's a solid mounted disc, not floating, so you won't get the clattering....

Did you disconnect the battery whilst it was stored? If not it's probably just normal leak down. Get them to charge it. You should pack a spare VR in any case.
