I respectfully disagree. 2000-3000 miles a year is 20-30 100-mile Sunday rides. Having a bike that you can be riding a few minutes after having a whim, or even when planned, is far more convenient...

The soft lowers work great. I keep a pair ready in the saddlebag in cooler weather. I have the hard lowers too, but hardly use them since I got my heated gear.
