Squirt a little WD40 up under the dust seal and maybe it will swell the bad fork seal enough to keep the leak at bay while you get over to the shop.

Might be the beginning of a fraying cable. Your bike just has a single cable from the throttle to the left TB (then over to the right), so maybe one of the nubs is coming loose after 20 years. :lol3

Yes, that seems consistent. The 491 part was post-1990? when the standard K75 bikes went to the giant piece of black plastic around the headlight.
