R1100RT can be had with 25k miles for $4500. Gives you extra money for custom suspension, brake upgrades, seat upgrades, money for tires and travel.

FJR1300 is another candidate.

A simple R1100RT with low miles for $4k is a smart choice for reliability, maintenance costs, etc.
