I was thinking I might have to knock the carb to get the float to jiggle loose...but it idled for a while and wouldn't take throttle w/out dying. Now...wont even do more than sputter.:cry

And even if it did halve the life, after 20 years, you may not notice. My Cl90 still works after 40 and those look pretty hard.

MzLiz often leads a ride that can be done on street tyres if you are comfortable on gravel/dirt roads. If it is muddy, you might want to consider your comfort level.

In the turbulence and wake of the front wheel, front of the motor, etc., it likely either has zero effect, or even scavenges.
