I would put the new set on all together and save the sprockets if they are only a bit used. Never hurts to have some spares. Plus if at any point you end up with a chain that has some life...

I would try swapping out the coil, spark plug wire, and spark plug first. You should be able to find one in the $50 range. While I have never had a bike do what yours is I have had vehicles do that...
