Don't worry too much about the valves, they rarely change after the first 10K. 52k on the clock is no big deal. Just keep an eye on oil...

Just an idea, you could make a little bracket that would bolt onto your plate and accomplish two things. It would transfer some of the rotational load to the top of the swingarm, and it would "clamp"...
