I've used it on several carb cleans with 100% positive results.
Scrape the bulk of the crud out first...

I think he's referring to updating to the '88 and up camshafts. I've not done it but evidently you can run the later model cams if you mix and match the later rocker arms.

I don't think there ever was a 550cc kit for these bikes--I could be wrong though.

You might take some #320 grit sandpaper and scuff them up some if they've gotten kinda smooth or polished looking.

I bought one of those sliders for a friends '83 XL600 that I worked on.
It fits perfectly. Durability is yet to be determined as I only installed it a few months ago. So far, so good.
