Anyone have a new 300 with a pooched starter?

Hi All, Newb to this thread. I bought a '14 Husky 300 which is a KTM sub-brand now.

The starter is dead. Battery tested fine as did the relay. Power at the starter, but no zoom.

The springs are the same length as the oe.

Exhaust Heat Shield Screws Seized

I grinded off the heads to remove the shield for the Water Pump shaft replacement.

Any idea how to remove the remains of the screws or to fit the shield?
