You can find OEM rebuild kits online for the carb's if you think you really need them.
Same for the points. I went with PAMCO.

I used to have my stuff powder-coated. When it comes to frame, sub-frame and all hard to get to places for cleaning, I use POR 15 now. Never seen a chip or scratch yet.

Adjusting valves is actually not a huge undertaking and it will save you in the long run.
Besides, you can see how clean your motor is running or an issue on the horizon.

I'm not sure if there is any problem with that. Only issue I would see if it's a used one, you might have to do some serious cleaning, not to create spark. Powder coating is electrically charged....
