You get some engine braking but not nearly as much as a manual tranny. If you are thinking of getting a scooter and riding down a lot of steep hills, get one with good brakes.

Power is all relative. Compared to my 2 scooters and my KLR, this thing is a rocket. If you are used to a Hayabusa it might seem a little slow but on a twisty road it has all the power I need.
