Leave them in. It's much easier to control the last few turns with a T-bar to counter the spring tension and a whole lot easier to get the caps back in. .

If it will run in gear at 100kph without shaking itself off the centre stand and torpedoing through the garage door it's balanced.

Second gear start launch at around 5,000 rpm beats the slow 1st to 2nd change.
Without a change to 3rd 60mph is just that little bit further than the stock engine wants to breath.

The only bikes that have excited me in the last 30 years are the Aprilia RXV550, BMW GX 450 and the Husqvarna 550

None of them are keepers.
