Took delivery of mine a week ago and it came with Michelin PR4s. Only have 300 miles on the clock so far and love them and everything else about this bike. Best bike purchase I have ever made.

I've had my 99 GS serviced there for 10 years with no issue or gouging as you say. Ron Ayers will go nowhere else for his personal rides worked on. They have a devoted following.
