I fixed my weather cracked boots with liquid rubber, you can get it at home depot for 6-7 bucks a tube.
I spreads on like paint but dries to rubber.

The XT350 engine is a wasted spark engine, meaning it fires on TDC compression and TDC exhaust, so as long as your cams are in line and the rotor is at the "T" then your fine.
