I just pulled the carb on my 89 and set my initial float setting from 27 to 26 mm and it made all the difference, started on one kick cold with no sputtering or kicking back, choke system actually...

Wow, never thought of a CX as an adventure bike. I see them quite often on CL for decent prices, have been thinking about getting one. They look pretty stout, engine case looks nice and strong.
