Goblin Valley if you get the chance.

Since you will be so close, try and take in Goblin Valley. Early morning or late afternoon is the best viewing. One of the most overlooked parks in that area. Well worth the time!

I used to own two KLR's and had similar (minus the crash) experiences. Worn or loose head bearings, high winds and large panniers = the death wobble. Top heavy bike doesn't help things.

A stock DR650 with stock jetting (minus the snorkle) runs fine at the altitudes you find here in Colorado. Do yourself a big favor and keep it simple so your trip out here won't be spent wondering...
