heated grip removal question

I have heated grips on my 1984 R80GS. No problem on removal of the kit but I'm wondering about the grips. Anyone removed or installed the kit on their GS?

Similar follow up. I moved back to the handlebar crossbar with a locking TT mount. The Migel was to far forward for me as well.

Clear coating a PD Tank?

I have an 84 R80G/S with a PD Tank. I would like to protect the decals and the signature on the tank. I'm thinking of a good clean up and touch up then having the tank clear coated at a paint shop.
