It's metric and I think it's 145mm. I used a 5 3/4" (=146mm) Harley insert and had to file the rim a bit to get it to fit in there.

I've got a Lucas 7" and there is more room in it than the 7" above. It was very hard to pack all the wiring in. I don't think the one above will fit all the wiring in it without a rewiring.

Another easy way is to not have the tube cut straight off at the end. Cut out a vee at the tip or a slanted (? sorry, I'm foreign..) cut. Tried to find a pic to no avail, hope you get it anyway.

I agree. That thread size is rarely used. As Metric threads go ("coarse", "fine" and "extra fine") it's the equivalent of "extra fine" thread so I guess it narrows the search.
