Another vote for a c10 concours. Put about 30k on a 2002 with nothing more than oil changes and tires. Can find them in the $2500 range all the time.

1.5 amp trickle charger.

On my grandfathers van we installed a cheap 1.5 amp trickle charger and got him to start plugging it in when parked. He drove the van for several more years with no problems.

Just did a fly and ride to pick up my 02 GS adventure back in April. Florida to Virginia. I bought a adapter to plug my car garmin into the bmw style plug. Cost about $16. Hope you have a great trip!
