Because pads wear to match the grooves on discs. This way the brakes work 100% right away, otherwise they need some time to settle. Every pad has its own location, i.e. right outer, inner, etc.

I have two sets in original size. Wire wheels have Heidenaus for gravel roads and alloys wear TrailAttacks for black stuff and riding two up. Naturally have two sets of disks and pads too.

Actually never seen one before, and boy ive seen some.
Pressure plate was concave which caused only ~20% contact area against clutch...

I love'em. After some practise, I found they work best with some 20% lower pressure than normal dual tires. Front 1,8bar instead of 2,2 and rear 2,0 instead of 2,5bar. Great handling on gravel roads...
