I've replaced them too. As others have said, pliers on the rubber part/metal flange will do the trick. I usually lube the threads that go up into the engine with with some kind of copper based...

My 94 is a wonderful machine. Comfortable. Fairly reliable. I much prefer riding it to the S I have sitting in reserve in the shop. All this stuff fails eventually. Enjoy it in the moment. t

The GS really isn't a desirable off-road machine. You are much better off with something lighter and more nimble if you're going that direction. t

Someone already mentioned thermarest pads. Those are good, but there are very comfortable, packable mattresses these days that make for a great night's rest. Worth it's weight in gold...

I ride an 03 S in addition to my older GS. It's a nice, civilized ride, with a tiny bit better road handling manners than my GS. It certainly isn't as comfortable over long miles, but for 100-200...

External mount R1100GS fuel filter doc?

A while back, a long while back maybe, a fellow rider (since deceased, I believe) developed an illustrated piece on moving the fuel filter out of the tank of an R1100GS and installing it on the right...
